Five Argentine startups stood out in the final of the Culinary Action! On The Road, a national contest that fuses gastronomy and food technology. The event, which also included talks on the gastronomy sector, was presided over by the Minister of Economic Development, Roberto García Moritán.
The startup BioTango, which integrates agriculture with artificial intelligence solutions, won first place in the “Gastronomy of the Future” contest. The award ceremony took place at the Innovation Park, and thanks to this recognition, the company will compete in the grand final in April 2024 in Donostia-San Sebastian.
BioTango's proposal is based on artificial intelligence as an effective answer for agricultural production in the era of climate change. Its goal is to provide the sector with innovative tools that maximize productivity and profitability.
Natalia Melian, CEO and Founder of BioTango, stated that her project is revolutionizing fruit farming by combining genomics and artificial intelligence in food production. ”This award fills us with joy and we are grateful for the opportunity to take Argentine innovation to the world”, añadió.
Minister García Moritán expressed his satisfaction with the event, highlighting the potential of food-tech to boost efficiency and access to new markets in the gastronomy sector.
The event “Gastronomy of the Future” brought together leaders of the foodtech ecosystem and Gastronomy 360º. Organized by the Basque Culinary Center in collaboration with various institutions, it was attended by five finalist startups that presented their projects to a distinguished jury.
The winning startup will represent Argentina in the grand final of Culinary Action! On The Road, competing with teams from other cities such as Tokyo, Copenhagen, New York, Tel Aviv and London. The award includes a one-year residency at LABe-Digital Gastronomy Lab and additional hours for research and innovation at the technology center, BCC Innovation.
